Good afternoon everyone!

Thank you to those of you that came out to support our students at our Band Camp Potluck Performance last week! I know it was a long week for the students, but we had more parent involvement than we have had in a long time and are thrilled to kick off this year! Lots happening this week with the start of school, including some meetings for kids and parents that may have missed information about this summer's trip to Washington, D.C.

Here is what is happening this week:

Monday, August 11:

First Day of School

3:30pm-4:30pm: BSR Trip Letter-Writing Day -- Optional time for students to come and learn about a fantastic fundraising option for the trip. Highly recommended and will be quick!

Tuesday, August 12:

3:30pm-3:45pm: BSR Leadership Meeting

5:30pm-9:00pm: BSR Rehearsal -- Class time for 7th period Marching Band.

Thursday, August 14:

Bill Humbert Leadership Clinic -- Students from North, Arlington, and Ramona will have the chance to work with longtime Band Director and Leadership Speaker Bill Humbert during the school day.

Itinerary:

9:20am Call in MPR

9:30 Full Group Session in MPR (Every Band Student Included)

12:03 Lunch

1:00 Leadership Session in Band Room

3:21 Dismiss

5:30pm-9:00pm: BSR Rehearsal -- Class time for 7th period Marching Band.

7:00pm-9:00pm: BSRIMA General Meeting -- Come and see what the Booster parents for the band have coming up for our students!

Friday, August 15:

6:00pm-8:00pm: BSR 2026 Trip Information Meeting -- Please attend this trip meeting to learn more about your student traveling with the band to Washington, D.C. next summer! If you attended this meeting in April, it will be the same information.

Lots of students have been emailing about class schedule changes. I have emailed the counseling team about every band schedule issue I have found, and we are working to get them fixed. Please encourage your student to stop by the counseling office at some point tomorrow or to email their counselor if they need help!

We know the start of the school year can be overwhelming, so please encourage your students to stop by and ask for help if they need it! The band room is always open. Additionally, if you are looking for a place for your student to be between the end of school and practice, I am always on campus and they are welcome to stay in my room to study, hang out with friends, or practice.

¡Gracias a quienes vinieron a apoyar a nuestros estudiantes en la presentación de la comunidad del campamento de banda la semana pasada! Sé que fue una semana larga para los estudiantes, pero tuvimos más participación de los padres que en mucho tiempo y estamos encantados de comenzar este año. Hay muchas cosas que hacer esta semana con el inicio de clases, incluyendo algunas reuniones para niños y padres que quizás se hayan perdido la información sobre el viaje de este verano a Washington, D.C.

Lunes, 11 de agosto:

Primer día de clases

3:30pm-4:30pm: Día de escribir cartas para el viaje de BSR -- Oportunidad opcional para que los estudiantes vengan y conozcan una fantástica opción para recaudar fondos para el viaje. ¡Muy recomendable y será rápido!

Martes, 12 de agosto:

3:30pm-3:45pm: Reunión de liderazgo de BSR

5:30pm-9:00pm: Ensayo de BSR -- Clase para la banda de música del séptimo periodo.

Jueves, 14 de agosto:

Clínica de liderazgo de Bill Humbert -- Estudiantes de North, Arlington y Ramona tendrán la oportunidad de trabajar con Bill Humbert, director de banda y orador de liderazgo de larga trayectoria, durante la jornada escolar. 

Itinerario: 

9:20am Llamada en el salón multiusos

9:30 Sesión grupal completa en el salón multiusos (todos los estudiantes de la banda incluidos)

12:03 Almuerzo

1:00 Sesión de liderazgo en el salón de banda

5:30pm-9:00pm: Ensayo de BSR: Clase para la banda de música del séptimo periodo.

7:00pm-9:00pm: Reunión general de BSRIMA -- ¡Vengan a ver lo que los padres de los patrocinadores de la banda tienen preparado para nuestros estudiantes! 

Viernes, 15 de agosto: 

6:00pm-8:00pm: Reunión informativa sobre el viaje BSR 2026 -- Asista a esta reunión para obtener más información sobre el viaje de su estudiante con la banda a Washington, D.C. el próximo verano. Si asistió a esta reunión en abril, recibirá la misma información.

Muchos estudiantes han estado enviando correos electrónicos sobre cambios en el horario de clases. He enviado correos electrónicos al equipo de orientación sobre cada problema con el horario de la banda que he encontrado y estamos trabajando para solucionarlo. Anime a su estudiante a pasar por la oficina de orientación mañana o a enviar un correo electrónico a su consejero si necesita ayuda. 

Sabemos que el comienzo del año escolar puede ser abrumador, así que anime a sus estudiantes a pasar y pedir ayuda si la necesitan. El salón de banda siempre está abierto. Además, si está buscando un lugar para que su estudiante esté entre el final de la escuela y la práctica, siempre estoy en el campus y son bienvenidos a quedarse en mi habitación para estudiar, pasar el rato con amigos o practicar.
