COMPOSITION two

Composition two makes you apply and work with all forms of imitative polyphony.  As you become familiar with these forms, their use will become second nature in your compositional process.

IMITATIVE devices

Composition: An imitative piece of music ( cannon, round, fugue)

  • Compose three parts for an ensemble of similar instruments (i.e. three trumpets, three clarinets, etc - just make sure the instruments are in the same key)
  • Composition 2 must be performed in class.  Individual parts may need to be provided.
  • Label each compositional device used (canon, augmentation of the canon, etc.)
